Anniversary Surprise Weekend

So like I mentioned in my last post, Sophie had her dance recital about On June 13.

 Well right after the dance recital, Nick surprised me with a little get-away trip to Boise for our anniversary (which is actually June 27) 

This was a TOTAL surprise! I had no idea until that day that anything was going on and it was SO fun. 

For those you you who don't know, I absolutely LOVE surprises and I LOVE spur of the moment things so this was great! He didn't tell me what we were doing in Boise he just said to pack my bags, and we were off!

 He even arranged for my mom and sister to watch the kids, without me knowing. That's pretty impressive.

So when we got to Boise he finally told me what the first surprise was....wait for it...

Nick had got tickets for him and me to go to the One Republic/The Script/American Authors concert! I was so excited! I really like One Republic and The Script so this was pretty awesome!

It was such a fun concert and One Republic was AMAZING! The other bands were good to but seriously, WOW, I was so impressed with what a good concert One Republic put on. They were great!

Nick then arranged for us to stay at a hotel that night.

I though that was it, and that was a great surprise and I loved it. Well apparently he wasn't finished. ;)

The next day we hung out and then went to lunch at Tucanos. It was delicious, as always. 

Then, during lunch he was acting a little odd, as in he would get these phone calls and walk off to talk to the person and when I would ask him about who it was he wouldn't say anything, odd. 

So by that point I knew something else had to be going on. Sure enough, as soon as we got out of the restaurant my sister pulled up in OUR van with the kids. 

Nick had arranged for her to bring them and we were off to Roaring Springs water park. It was great! Except, did I mention that the weather that day was only supposed to be only 70 degrees as the high? 

Any other day that weather would be just fine, but when you are going to a water park 70 is a bit chilly, especially when there is a breeze. Ha.

It was ok though, and worked out just fine, and although we all did freeze slightly, we had a blast!

 And because of the cooler weather we basically had the water park to ourselves. We literally could go on any ride with NO line. I think that made it worth it, especially with the kids. 

This is how we ate our lunch, mostly because we were freezing! 

Did I mention the kids were OBSESSED with the little kiddie slides! They probably went on them 500 times. Cru was especially happy about them, and it was adorable!

The kids loved it, we loved it! It was a great surprise trip and pretty much I have the best husband ever! 

We had such a fun time!

Sophie's Spring Dance Recital

Sophie's dance recital was on June 13, 2014.
She has been doing dance now for almost a year and has seriously LOVED every minute of it. This was her second recital and this one was a little bit bigger than her first which was in December.
For this recital her class performed 2 dances.

 First was a cute tap dance routine to the song "Pop Corn Popping".

The second was a ballet dance. They were dressed as Eskimos and danced to a song called

 "I'm a Little Eskimo".  

She looked adorable if I do say so myself.

Here in the Barker Family we have quite the amazing support system. Nick and I have be so blessed with AMAZING families and as you can see, 

there is plenty of support here for Sophie, and this isn't even close everyone!

Family Reunion number 1..

Nick and I both come from the BEST families ever, and that includes extended family as well. So, this time of year is always nice because there are usually quite a few opportunities for us to get together with them. Last weekend we had the first of many Family reunions for 2014. It was for Nick's Grandma Betty's birthday party and we headed down to Salt Lake City for it and we basically had a weekend full of fun in the Sun... and water

 Like always we had a great time, and really enjoyed our time with the family.

P.s. Does anyone have that picture of the whole family we took there? I would LOVE to get it!

~Summer is HERE~

WE LOVE SUMMER!

Summertime is seriously my favorite time of year, I love the warm weather, but mostly I love all the fun activities that come with summertime. 

Here is what we love to do in the Summer, 

and a few (OK it's a lot!) of pictures from the beginning of summer for us here in the 

Barker household. 

Our fun walks... We almost always go see the cows. My kids love it, and because it is literally at the end our street it makes for a nice easy walk. 

What would summer be without BBQ's right?!...

...And water fights.... Yes I'm holding the hose... No mercy!! HA ...

...and Parade's...

I decided this year to do my first ever yard sale... A couple of friends and I did it, and it turned out pretty good, it was a little crazy at times but we had fun! 

About a week ago, We went to the Zoo in Boise for Sophie's last day of Joy School... The kids loved it... We will definitely be going again, I'm sure.

We also just bought a stand-up paddle board, and it is AWESOME! I already want to get another one so we can go more than one person at a time. Plus you can't beat this view! 

Last, but not least...what would summer be without sleepovers... This was just last night, and was Sophie's first real sleepover, not including sleeping at Grandma's house. Her and Her cousin Kyler had a great time, an stayed up WAY too late!!

As you can see we LOVE summertime.. 

And I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store for us.

Easter Time

I know it's been awhile, and WoW!! I have WAY too many things I want/ need to blog about, but to be honest, I just haven't been in the blogging mood lately.

However, today we are going to focus on Easter 2014.

It was filled with lots of fun, family, candy, cousins, church  and way too many Easter egg hunts (although, I really don't know if too many Easter egg hunts is even possible). Like always it was a great day. It was fun to teach our kids, mostly Sophie, a little more about the true meaning of Easter this year, and she was really into. She loves hearing the story about Jesus, and I have even caught her trying to re-tell it to Cru. It's so cute!

This was an egg hunt at CSI.. It literally lasted less than 1 minute and they were lucky to get two eggs each. It was ridiculous, however, they did get cool face paintings and got to see the Easter bunny. So I guess that made it worth it. Sort of.

 (I won't tell you how long we stood in that dang face painting line!!)
